Healthy Dog Food to Help Your Dog Live a Long and Happy Life

Having a dog is definately a big responsibility and sometimes it is hard to anticipate the amount of responsibility until your pet finally arrives. And after many months of puppy proofing the house and puppy training, you finally feel like you're getting the hang of things. However, before you know it, your puppy is no longer a puppy and he's a full grown adult dog now. Just when you think you're getting use to having a new member to the family, things start to change again. Thankful, the transition from puppy to adult dog isn't too difficult, just a couple more routine check-ups with the vet and of course switching the kind of food your dog eats.

Now that youre dog has passed the puppy phase you need to switch the kind of food he or she eats. This is generalized for most dogs, however, for the smaller breeds such as the toy dog breeds you may not have to switch foods because they tend to have a higher level of energy than the bigger dog breeds. When your dog starts to become an adult dog there are certain ingredients in puppy food that he or she doesn't need as much of anymore, such a high levels of fats that fuel their high energy levels as a puppy. When your dog is an adult he or she is more likely to be more trained and less likely to be constantly running around you and chasing things. Your dog has become more accustomed to his or her home and also to the daily routines. Since puppy food has higher levels of fats it is not ideal for dogs to be eating that type of food.

Similar to puppy food, it is important to check the ingredients of dog food. The most important thing is to check for by-products in the ingredients. This is definately something to avoid, if you want your pet to have less health problems and live longer then we suggest to always buy food and treats that don't include by-products, even if it means spending a little bit more money on a different brand of food. Just remember, the little bit more you spend on a healtier brand can save you lots of money that you could be paying your vet to fix health problems your dog could develop in the future because of unhealthy food.

Larger breeds of dogs are prone to deterioration when not fed the right amount of nutrients in their food, it is important to find food with a high amount of hormones and no by-products to ensure your dog will live a long and healthy life. We suggest to always feed your dogs chicken or turkey meal which is the healthiest meat for not only humans but for dogs as well. Remember, when choosing a type of food for your dog remember to consider his or her unique qualities, each breed of dog has their own qualities that provide pros and cons. We are Pet Food Source are here to remind you that a healthy dog means a happy dog for you and your pet. Let's work together to provide high quality food to our pets.
